KUCCPS extends inter-university transfer window to one month
By David Nthua, July 8, 2026Students seeking to change universities after receiving their 2026/2027 Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) placement results have been granted more time to apply for transfers.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, announced that the inter-university transfer window has been extended from two weeks to one month.
“As part of career alignment, I know that some students who have been placed today may wish to transfer from one university to another. In order to allow adequate time and opportunity for such transfers, this year, we will be extending the transfer window from a period of two weeks to one month,” Ogamba announced.

More time for university transfers
The extension means students who wish to change their universities or institutions after placement will have a longer period to submit their transfer requests through KUCCPS.
The move is intended to give learners enough time to review their placements and make informed decisions about their preferred institutions and courses.
The CS made the announcement while releasing the 2026/2027 university and college placement results.
Universities to issue admission letters
Ogamba directed universities and colleges to begin preparing for the admission of successful applicants.

“Universities and colleges to which students have been placed are now expected to immediately embark on preparations for admission and communicate appropriate joining instructions,” he said while releasing the 2026 university placement results.
He also announced that the Higher Education Financing portal had been opened for first-time applicants seeking government funding.
“Following the conclusion of the placement process, the higher education financing portal is now open for application by first-time applicants, available at www.hef.co.ke or www.helb.co.ke.”
“All placed students interested in securing funding are therefore advised to apply as soon as possible,” he added.
According to the Ministry of Education, KUCCPS placed 293,869 students into degree, diploma, craft certificate and artisan certificate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year.
