The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) released admission letters for the March 2026 intake on March 9, 2026, covering both pre-service and in-service applicants.

As soon as the letters went live, many selected students tried to download them, but heavy traffic on the admissions portal caused problems. Some applicants could not access or download their letters.

KMTC urged students to remain patient.

“We kindly request that selected applicants remain patient and try accessing the portal later, once traffic has reduced,” the college stated in an official notice posted on its X account.

Scammers take advantage

Alongside this, KMTC issued a strong warning about scammers. Fraudsters often move fast when news of admissions spreads. They contact applicants through WhatsApp, Gmail, or other channels, promising to help get or release letters for a fee. KMTC described this as a trick to steal money.

“Applicants are strongly cautioned to beware of fraudsters who may take advantage of this situation by claiming they can help you access or secure admission letters for a fee,” the notice said. “Please note that all admission letters are issued strictly through the KMTC admissions portal, and no payment is required to access them.”

Reports from news sites confirm that scammers have shared fake letters or images online to trick people into sending money. KMTC emphasised that official letters are never sent via WhatsApp or Gmail. It also reminded applicants that all fees go through the e-Citizen platform only, and no extra payments are required outside this system.

The college encouraged students and guardians to rely only on official communication channels.

“For accurate updates and assistance, rely only on the College’s official communication channels @KMTCofficial across all social media platforms,” it said.

High demand

This warning comes as KMTC faces high demand for its programmes. The college trains the majority of Kenya’s healthcare workers and runs over 70 campuses nationwide. Founded in 1927, it operates under the Ministry of Health and attracts thousands of applicants every year. Scammers often target popular institutions like KMTC to exploit hopeful students and parents.

Applicants facing problems with the portal can visit any KMTC campus for help in person. The official portal remains the only source of genuine letters.

Students and guardians are advised to stay alert. They should check everything through official channels and avoid anyone asking for money upfront. This step protects applicants from losing cash to criminals during an exciting but busy admission period.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened applications for placement into diploma and certificate programmes at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) for the March 2026 intake. The reapplication targets KCSE holders who were not placed in January 2026 or previously, giving them another chance to secure a spot.

Applicants are advised to log in to the KUCCPS Students’ Portal, review available KMTC programmes, and follow the step-by-step application process. The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 13, 2026.

KUCCPS reminded candidates that admitted students are eligible for funding through the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and cautioned against fake social media pages and cyber scams, urging applicants to rely only on the official KUCCPS website and authorised Huduma Centres for guidance.
