Kitany lawyer pokes holes into Linturi first marriage

Marianne Kitany’s lawyer, Danstan Omari, yesterday poked holes into the alleged marriage of Meru Senator Mithika Linturi to his first wife Mercy Kaimenyi.
Omari, while cross-examining Fr Jason Micheni, who officiated the said marriage, wondered why the priest solemnised the union while Linturi had two children out of wedlock.
In response, the priest claimed he was not aware of the children saying: “I asked whether he had children and he did not disclose.”
Micheni, however, claimed had he known, he would have still officiated the marriage held at Tigania Catholic Parish church on April 8, 2000.
According to Omari, the senator was married to another woman, Susan Gacheri, whom they had two daughters before Linturi married Kaimenyi 2000.
Omari further claims that Linturi had a son with Kaimenyi before the marriage was solemnised which makes the union a nullity.
Micheni confirmed that the wedding video presented in court as evidence was recorded at the event he presided.
Kitany and Linturi are embroiled in a bitter divorce case with the senator claiming he was never married to the former Chief of Staff to Deputy President William Ruto. The case continues today.
