Kisii Woman Representative Donya Doris yesterday called for a thorough vetting of the proposed nominees for the positions of cabinet secretaries following the dissolution of the cabinet last week.

Speaking to People Daily during a press briefing at Suneka market where she launched a project to repair a non-functional borehole, Donya said only persons of integrity should be appointed to the vacant positions.

“A thorough vetting ought to be conducted on the nominees to the next cabinet. Those who are linked to corruption matters ought not be considered for appointment,” she added.

Thorough vetting

“This time round, people will be thoroughly vetted before they join the next Kenya Kwanza cabinet,” she said.

“It is our duty to lead by example, to ensure that our actions inspire trust and confidence among those we serve,” she remarked.

She urged Ruto to appoint competent and capable individuals to key ministerial positions given that the nation faces a lot of challenges that require strong leadership and effective governance.

She added that the nation’s progress and prosperity will be determined by the quality of its leadership, and that the President has a responsibility to ensure that his administration is staffed with individuals who possess the necessary skills, experience and integrity to tackle the country’s most pressing issues.

“The President must fulfil his duty by appointing individuals with the requisite expertise, experience, and moral character to address the country’s most urgent challenges,” she said.
