Kindiki: Gov’t to expedite land adjudication, title deed issuance to resolve security issues
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has revealed the government’s plan to expedite land adjudication and the processing of title deeds in an effort to curb security issues.
Kindiki said that his ministry will team up with the land ministry in order to achieve the goal, which he believes will go a long way in resolving the insecurity menace in some parts of the country.
The former Tharaka-Nithi Senator made the remarks during his security mission in Kitui County on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.
Land adjudication
“Through the Ministry of Lands, the government will expedite the process of land adjudication and issuance of title deeds to help resolve security issues that emanate from ownership disputes,” Kindiki said in a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The CS also warned local leaders against inciting their constituents to engage in conflicts in volatile regions.
“Political and community leaders inciting residents to engage in acts of violence and destruction of property in the guise of addressing historical land grievances, especially in border regions, will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law,” he added.

Kindiki’s warning
Kindiki further affirmed the government’s readiness to deal with bandits and cattle rustlers who have posed regular threats to citizens in conflict-prone areas.
“Livestock rustlers and bandits, who for years terrorized innocent residents and impoverished them economically in Eastern and North Rift Valley Counties, are on the radar of our specialized security agencies.
“The government will enhance the deployment of formed units and arm security officers with modern equipment to boost their capacity to thwart and deal with complex crimes.
“Criminals using firearms to attack security officers and civilians will be handled ruthlessly,” he added.
The CS opened a new General Service Unit (GSU) camp in Mandongoi in Kitui County and also addressed a security meeting. Kindiki’s security meeting was attended by Eastern Regional, Kitui County, and Kyuso Sub-County Security and Intelligence Committees, Kitui County government officials, and Members of the County Assembly (MCA).
