Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has challenged women to leverage their sphere of influence within the family setup and use it to mold the youths and the nation at large.

Speaking during an engagement with women grassroots leaders and opinion shapers from Kirinyaga on Friday, August 29, 2025, he acknowledged that women possess the unique ability to influence men and their children.

He urged them to make the best of what was bestowed on them to shape society, especially by inculcating good morals in their children.

Power of influence

“I want to urge the women. You are the pillar of the nation and the society. When you see a home that has stands, it’s because of the woman. God has blessed you that you have some influence on your husband and your children. As men, we always listen to you even if we do not readily accept that. Our children are always mostly convinced by you,” he stated.

While expressing concern about a troubling trajectory being taken by youths in the central region, Kindiki implored women to swing into action and help redress the matter by leveraging that ability.

“Use that influence to help us shape our society to be strong and upright,” he stated. “I have noted that among our youth we have those who are being led astray and are getting entangled in the negative politics of violence and hatred.

“We have now started destroying the very property we made with our sweat. We have never witnessed this before,” he observed.

The DP also took the opportunity to unreservedly condemn the politics of violence and instances of wanton destruction of property witnessed across the country, such as the past youth protest on the 35th anniversary of Saba Saba and the anti-finance bills.

“We will not allow violence to come into our politics. Let people compete on who has a better vision to help us. Those competing with me, I have said I want dual carriage to come to Mt. Kenya East, but the politics of burning up people violence,” he added.
