Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika’s (pictured) lawyers have told a court the county is staring at an administrative and service delivery crisis over the extension of injunction orders barring the vetting of Cabinet nominees by the County Assembly.

Peter Chege and Raydon Mwangi said that the two petitions challenging Kihika’s appointment of County Executive Committees (CECs) members and Chief Officers (COs) had left the county in a limbo.

Addressing the Employment and Labour Relations court judge Hellen Wasilwa in a case challenging the appointments, Chege said there were no active CEC members and Chief Officers.

He said CECs and COs who served in Governor Lee Kinyanjui’s administration had resigned.

“Everything is grounded, all functions are at a halt. Nothing is working so far and if the case continues to delay in court, the county will soon be in a dire situation and the effects will be bad,” said Chege.

Mwangi,  who is representing CEC nominees, urged Justice Wasilwa to rule on the case as soon as possible.

The court suspended the vetting following two petitions by Magare Benjamin and Daniel Kipngetich who accuse the Governor of violating the Constitution in her appointments.
