Kidero, Mwangi wa Iria set for graft hearings this week
Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero will be among graft suspects scheduled to appear in court this week.
Kidero is charged alongside 13 others in a Ksh58 million embezzlement case by the EACC. The case dragged on after a court of appeal dismissed Kidero’s appeal to have his name struck off the case in February 2023.

The anti-corruption agency seeks to recover Ksh14.4 million arising from fraudulent transactions during his tenure. Kidero is expected in court on Wednesday, June 5 for the hearing.
Former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria will also appear at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court and the Milimani Environment and Land Court on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in what is according to a statement by the EACC;
“A suit for recovery of Kes547 million paid to Top Image Media Services, a company associated with the Governor of Murang’a County, through contracts awarded in conflict of interest. The suit is also for recovery of two parcels of land purchased through the proceeds of corrupt conduct.”
Wa Iria appeared before Justice Nixon Sifuna of Milimani Anti-Corruption High Court where he denied the allegations levelled against him. He was released on a Ksh20 million bail.
Wilson Kosachey and others are facing a suit for the recovery of land in Nandi, Kapsabet Municipality. They face charges regarding the alienation of the land which had been officially set aside for the construction of a trading depot by the Kenya National Trading Corporation Limited. They are expected to appear for the hearing on Monday, June 3, 2024.
Muktar Sheikh and three others are also set for a hearing that involves a suit for recovery of a piece of land L.R Number 209/12489 reserved for open space and roads within Akiba Estate South C.
