The government has been urged to include the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the school curriculum.

The call was made by former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana when he officiated the launch of St. Paul’s University SDG and ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) at the institution.

Kibwana said there is need for the Ministry of Education to incorporate the study of SDGs in the school curriculum starting at the Early Childhood Development Education level to institutions of higher learning.

He said teaching the subject in schools would champion the attainment of the goals of Vision 2030 and other development agenda.

He said the subject will equip learners with the skills and knowledge to embrace entrepreneurship.

“Learners will also be good in decision making, problem solving and therefore I urge the national government to entrench the subject in the curriculum to attain its development goals,” he said.
The event was attended by St Paul University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Peter Ngure.
