Kenya’s late president Moi to be buried Wednesday next week

Kenya’s second President Daniel arap Moi who passed away on Monday at the age of 95 will be laid to rest next week at his Kabarak farm located about 200 kilometers northwest of Nairobi, state officials said on Thursday. 
 

  Joseph Kinyua, head of public service, said at a briefing in Nairobi the remains of Moi, who ruled Kenya between 1978 and 2002, will be interred on Feb. 12. 
  

He said that the late president will be accorded a state funeral at a public stadium in Nairobi on Feb. 11 and it is expected to be attended by foreign heads of state and government. 
  

He added that the government had gazetted Feb. 11 as a public holiday to allow citizens to pay final respects to Moi who oversaw the country’s transition to political pluralism and earned global acclaim for spearheading conflict resolutions in the region.  (Xinhua)
