Kenyans challenged to get into ‘green businesses’

By , March 22, 2022

On March 22, 2022 business professionals, policy makers, entrepreneurs and scholars

converged together to discuss ways in which more companies can get into ‘green business’

during the 11th edition of The Kenya Entrepreneurs’ Conference on Trade and Development

(KENCTAD).

Sustainability continues to be an increasingly important issue for many individuals, especially in

the business world.

Human activity, some business activities and climate change continue to affect our lives as well as the fate of all other species around the planet.

The sustainability summit is an annual event focused on promoting sustainable business and

corporate sustainability.

Corporate sustainability is an approach aimed at creating long-term stakeholder value through the implementation of a business strategy that focuses on the ethical, social, environmental, cultural, and economic dimensions of doing business.

Strategies

created are intended to foster longevity, transparency, and proper employee development within

business organizations.

The summit challenges businesses and organizations towards sustainability by being intentional about having a positive effect on the global or local environment, community, society, or economy—a business that strives to meet the triple bottom line.

Speaking at the Summit, Sebastian Ngida, KENCTAD Founder stated: “We are humbled to be in

our second year of the summit and to bring together like-minded individuals for a networking

opportunity that allows for businesses to learn from each other.

“Our event partners, Safaricom and Bolt, are leading a paradigm shift in pushing for a sustainable- driven business culture in Kenya. This is the time for businesses to become part of the solution, cut down on emissions,” he said.
