Kenya, US deepen military training ties as NDC hosts US delegation
By Kiprono Keileb, November 16, 2025The National Defence College (NDC) has once again placed Kenya at the centre of a growing security partnership after hosting a high-level delegation from the United States Military Group–Kenya (USMILGP-K).
The meeting, led by Lieutenant General Juma Mwinyikai on the Kenyan side and Lieutenant Colonel Trish Basile on the US side, brought together officers committed to strengthening how the two countries prepare their senior military leaders for a changing security environment.
In its statement posted by KDF on X on Sunday, November 16, 2025, KDF stated that the delegation meeting from the US was hosted by the NDC commandant.
“The Commandant, National Defence College (NDC), Lieutenant General Juma Mwinyikai, hosted a delegation from the United States Military Group–Kenya (USMILGP-K) led by Lieutenant Colonel Trish Basile, USMILGP Kenya Chief, Lieutenant Colonel Hans Hobbs, the Air Program Manager, and Daisy Kone, the IMET Program Manager,” the statement reads.

The meeting was built around real discussions on how both countries can improve Professional Military Education (PME). “The Commandant underscored NDC’s commitment to enhancing professional and academic excellence in preparing senior military leaders to meet contemporary and emerging security challenges,” the statement reads

On their part, the US team expressed readiness to expand the collaboration. “The visiting team expressed their interest in deepening institutional cooperation, broadening faculty and student exchange opportunities and supporting joint initiatives that improve the quality and relevance of professional military education,” the statement reads
The visit added another layer to the long-standing partnership between the two nations. KDF described the session as one that reaffirmed the strong partnership between Kenya and the United States.

For both countries, the meeting signalled a continued investment in stability, professionalism, and a shared approach to solving regional and global security challenges.
