Kenya triumphs at the 2025 World Travel Awards

Kenya has once again stamped its authority as a continental leader in tourism and hospitality, earning widespread acclaim at the 2025 World Travel Awards (WTA) Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, speaking on Monday, June 30,2025 hailed the country’s remarkable performance and praised the industry’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and global competitiveness.

Among the standout victories, Nairobi was named Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination 2025, a recognition that affirms the capital city’s rising profile as a hub for business, innovation, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism.

“Kenya has once again cemented its place as an undisputed leader in tourism and hospitality across Africa at the World Travel Awards,” CS Miano said.
“Nairobi proudly claimed the title of Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination 2025, reaffirming our capital as a powerhouse for business, MICE tourism, and innovation on the continent.

The awards also recognized a wide range of Kenyan establishments, including the eco-conscious Emboo Safari Camp, JW Marriott Nairobi, and Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi Upper Hill, all celebrated for their world-class service and commitment to excellence.

“From the eco-conscious Emboo Safari Camp to the world-class luxury of JW Marriott Nairobi and Radisson Blu Nairobi Upper Hill, Kenyan brands showed the world what Magical Kenya is all about: excellence, innovation, and sustainability,” Miano added.

Kenya’s presence at the awards was dominant across categories, with more than 30 accolades earned in conservation, luxury tourism, air travel, and tour services. The wins signal not just popularity, but a sustained investment in quality and strategic development in the sector.

As attention turns to the WTA Grand Final in Bahrain this December, CS Miano expressed confidence in Kenya’s ability to shine on the global stage.
