Kenya Power lists parts of 5 regions to experience outage on Tuesday, 21
By Aloys Michael, April 20, 2026Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions affecting several parts of the country on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, as the utility undertakes planned maintenance on its network.
In a notice issued on Monday, April 20, 2026, evening, the company said the outages will take place across five regions, including Nairobi, North Rift, Western, Mt. Kenya, and North Eastern.

The planned works are aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring a more stable power supply.
In the Nairobi region, areas such as Madaraka, Siwaka, and parts of Kingara Road will experience outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Affected locations include residential estates, businesses, and institutions around Strathmore and nearby areas, as well as sections of Mbaazi Avenue, Gitanga Road, and James Gichuru.

Parts of Machakos County, specifically along Wote Road, will also be affected from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The outage will impact several towns and markets, including Katoloni, Mbembani, Kithyoko, Kalimani, and Maveti, among others.
In the North Rift region, customers in Chepkatet and Labuiywet in Uasin Gishu County should expect a power interruption between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.
Western region
Meanwhile, in Western Kenya, areas around Kuywa and Chwele Market in Bungoma County will face outages from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Markets, schools, and surrounding homes are among those expected to be affected.

The Mt. Kenya region will see multiple counties impacted. In Nyeri County, the Witima and Kagumo areas will be without electricity from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Similar outage hours will apply to Kangaita in Laikipia County and Ndithini, Kaguku, and Kirimiri in Murang’a County.
Parts of Embu County, including Kivaa, Masinga, and Kaewa, will also experience disruptions during the same period.
In the North Eastern region, parts of Kitui County, such as Kisasi and Ikanga, will be affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Kenya Power has advised customers in the listed areas to plan accordingly and treat all power lines as live during the maintenance period.
The company noted that the electricity supply may be restored earlier than scheduled if the works are completed ahead of time.
The utility regularly conducts such maintenance to upgrade infrastructure, connect new customers, and improve reliability across the national grid.
