Kenya Power lists areas to be affected by blackout on Thursday November 20
Kenya Power has announced planned power outages in parts of Kajiado and Laikipia counties for Thursday, November 20, 2025, citing maintenance work as the reason.
The utility company says the interruptions are part of scheduled operations to ensure the continued reliability of the electricity supply.
In Kajiado County, the affected areas include Amboseli and Isara, with specific locations to be affected, including Jesbriquet, Sopa Lodge, Ngong Veg, AA Lodge, Mada Hotel, Kibo Safari, Ngong Narok Primary, Omra, Mbirikani, and parts of Simba Cement, along with adjacent customers.
Power supply in this region will be unavailable from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

For Laikipia County, residents and businesses in Kimanju and Ilporei will experience outages during the same hours. The notice specifically mentions Ilporei Market, Kimanju Market, Naiperere Centre, Ndugu Zanguni Village, Oldonyiro Market, and surrounding areas.
Such maintenance exercises are common across the country and are designed to prevent unexpected power failures, upgrade infrastructure, and ensure efficient service delivery. Kenya Power encourages customers to take necessary precautions, particularly those operating critical equipment or relying on electricity for essential services.
The company also reminded affected customers to remain patient during the outages and assured them that the power supply would be restored promptly once maintenance work is complete.
Kenya Power’s timely notice allows households, businesses, and public institutions in the impacted areas to plan accordingly and minimise disruptions during the maintenance period.
