Kenya Power announces planned blackout in parts of 2 counties on Friday

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power interruption that will affect parts of two counties on Friday, October 31, 2025.

In a statement released on X on Thursday, October 30, 2025, the company said the maintenance exercise is part of ongoing efforts to improve electricity supply and reliability across the country.

“Good Evening. The following areas will be on a planned power maintenance tomorrow (31.10.2025),” Kenya Power posted.

Scheduled outage in South Nyanza

According to the notice, the planned outage will take place between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm in selected areas of the South Nyanza Region.

This comes as the utility firm targets specific locations within Migori County for the eight-hour maintenance window. The affected sites include Ikerege Center, Ikerege Hosp, Parts of Isibania, Getongonya, Gokiaraka, Koego Mkt, Nyametaburo, Kiomakebe Mkt, Nyabongarange, Kwiriba & adjacent customers.

“South Nyanza region parts of Migori County area: Ikerege, Isibania. Date: Friday, 31.10.2025. Time: 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.. Ikerege Center, Ikerege Hosp, Parts of Isibania, Getongonya, Gokiaraka, Koego Mkt, Nyametaburo, Kiomakebe Mkt, Nyabongarange, Kwiriba & adjacent customers,” the statement read.

Planned outage in Kiambu

The blackout will also extend to parts of Kiambu County on the same day and time.

“Parts of Kiambu County area: Fresha Dairies, Palmhouse Dairies Date: Friday 31.10.2025 Time: 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. Thakwa Village, County Pride Hotel, Githunguri Shops, Githunguri Police, Cilko Pri & adjacent customers,” Kenya Power stated.

Areas around Fresha Dairies and Palmhouse Dairies will experience the interruption, including Thakwa Village, County Pride Hotel, Githunguri Shops, Githunguri Police, Cilko Pri & adjacent customers.

Routine upgrades and advisory

Kenya Power advisory comes as the company continues its routine infrastructure upgrades to enhance service delivery. The scheduled maintenance is expected to last from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in both counties.

Residents and businesses in the listed locations are urged to make necessary arrangements during the outage period.

The utility company regularly conducts such maintenance works to upgrade the electricity network, reduce unplanned outages, and enhance safety and efficiency. Residents and business owners in the affected regions are advised to plan accordingly and treat all electrical installations as live during the maintenance period.
