WPL wrap: Kenya Police, Vihiga picks win on day 1
Kenya Police Bullets kicked off their FKF Women’s Premier League title defence with a commanding 3-0 win against KISPED at the Police Sacco Stadium.
Lydia Akoth opened the scoring in the 39th minute, while Rebecca Okwaro sealed the victory with a second-half brace, netting in the 51st and 61st minutes to secure all three points for the champions.
Vihiga Queens
Elsewhere, at Moi Stadium in Kisumu, Vihiga Queens earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over a resilient Ulinzi Starlets.
Both teams created several opportunities, but it was Providence Mukalo’s 89th-minute strike that proved to be the difference, giving Vihiga Queens a crucial win.
In Bungoma, Kibera Soccer Women recorded a 2-0 triumph over Bungoma Queens at the National Polytechnic.
Nyakoa Amina put Kibera ahead with an early goal in the 10th minute, and Anna Arusi’s stoppage-time strike in the 90th minute secured the three points.
Meanwhile, at the RVIST Grounds in Nakuru, Trinity Starlets eased to a 3-0 victory over Bunyore Starlets.
