In its weekly outlook, the department said the forecast applies nationwide, affecting both urban and rural communities, farmers, motorists, and households planning daily activities. Kenya Met explained that while dry conditions will dominate, some regions should remain alert for rain later in the week, especially in traditionally wetter zones.

In an overview of the general weather pattern expected across the country this week, the department noted that dry and sunny conditions will be common in many areas.

“This Week’s Weather Forecast | 3rd–9th February 2026. Mostly sunny and dry conditions are expected over most parts of the country. However, rainfall is likely to occur in a few to several areas of the Central Highlands, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and Western Kenya as the week progresses,” part of the department’s message reads.

Kenya Met also warned that high daytime temperatures will be felt in several parts of the country, particularly in low-lying and arid regions. The department said residents in affected areas should take precautions against heat-related discomfort, especially during the afternoon hours.

Highlighting the expected daytime heat, the department pointed to specific regions that are likely to experience high temperatures during the week.

“Hot Conditions: Daytime (maximum) temperatures above 30°C are expected in several parts of the country, including the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya,” the statement reads.

At the same time, Kenya Met cautioned that nights will be notably cold in some highland areas, creating sharp temperature differences between day and night. The department advised residents in colder regions to keep warm, particularly during the early morning hours.
In its outlook on night-time conditions, the department identified areas likely to record very low temperatures.

“Cool Nights: Night-time (minimum) temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Central Highlands, the Central Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro,” the statement reads.
