World football governing body Fifa has given Kenya Football Federation  until February 9, 2021 to settle former Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche’s debt that now stands at Sh113 million, failure to which Kenya could be banned from participating in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.   

In a letter to FKF dated December 9, Fifa’s Disciplinary Committee granted the federation a final deadline of 60 days to settle the debt. 

As at the date of receipt of the letter,  the debt stood at Sh93 million with an additional Sh20 million in accrued interest. 

“If payment is not made to the creditor and proof of such payment is not provided to the secretariat to the Fifa Disciplinary Committee by the aforementioned deadline, upon request of the Creditor, the Debtor may be expelled from the preliminary competition of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.

The Debtor is directed to notify the secretariat to the Fifa Disciplinary Committee of every payment made and to provide the relevant proof of payment.

 In April, FKF president Nick Mwendwa said it would not be the end of the world if Kenya is suspended from participating in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers for failure to pay Amrouche.

On March 23, 2020, FKF received a decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee directing the Federation to pay the former coach in 30 days but failed to comply.
