Residents of Kagaa area at the outskirts of Kenol town in Maragua, Murang’a county have decried insecurity following attacks by a gang which has been terrorising them.

Majority of the residents who are new settlers claim that the gang has been giving them sleepless nights fearing their attack.

One of the residents who sought anonymity claimed that he was attacked by thugs who chopped off his fingers and made away with his golden ring.

The victim said the culprits found him in his home and they demanded money after which they attacked him with a machete inflicting cuts on his head and hands.

“They chopped my fingers and made away with my golden ring which I believe they will see to make money” he said.

Dickson Muiruri is lucky to be alive after the thugs broke into his house at night and left with deep stab wounds on the chest about two weeks ago.

He said the thugs are ruthless and they are attacking them if they don’t get anything valuable to take away with.

“I was rushed to the hospital as the medics had to drain the blood which had clogged my lungs to save my life,” said Muiruri.

Alexander Mutua, another resident, said the gang have crafted ways of getting over the electric fences and find their way to the houses.

He however accused the police in the area over laxity saying that the officers barely respond to their distress calls.

“Whenever we call the officers at the Kagaa police station, they always say they have no vehicle for mobility and we have to deal with the thugs by ourselves,” remarked Mutua.

Mary Wangechi, called for beefed up security in the area saying it’s the responsibility of the security agents to ensure their lives and property are protected.
