The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary traffic disruption along Mombasa Road (A8) near Panari Hotel.

In a statement on its X account, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, KeNHA said the closure is necessary to allow for installation of the fabricated footbridge beams. The authority advised motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals on site.

The affected section along the Mombasa-bound lanes will be closed from Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 10:00 pm to Friday, December 12, 2025, at 6:00 am, and again from Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10:00 pm to Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 6:00 am.

KeNHA urged drivers to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative routes to avoid delays.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Mombasa Road (A8) near Panari Hotel will experience traffic disruption along the Mombasa-bound lanes from Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 10.00 pm to Friday, December 12, 2025, at 6.00 am and from Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10.00 pm to Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 6.00 am,” the notice reads.

“This is to allow for installation of the fabricated footbridge beams. KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site.”

Night works

The disruption is part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades across Nairobi. In a similar move, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) announced a temporary night closure along Ngong Road near Junction Mall. The disruption ran from November 18 to December 10, 2025, between 8:00 pm and 5:00 am to allow the construction of a new flyover.

“Motorists are advised to exercise caution when approaching the affected section and to observe all traffic signs and directions issued by police officers and traffic marshals who will be on site to ensure smooth traffic flow,” KURA said in its statement.

The agency also provided diversion routes to maintain two-way movement along the road.

KeNHA has carried out several night works in recent months to improve pedestrian safety and ease traffic. A similar advisory was issued for Thika Superhighway, where a section near Kihunguro experienced disruption from October 20 to December 20, 2025, for the construction of column bases and stub columns for a new footbridge.

These projects form part of wider efforts to enhance road safety and modernise Nairobi’s transport network.
