Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka has urged President William Ruto to continue making financial contributions to churches, dismissing criticism from those who argue that such donations are inappropriate.

Speaking on Sunday, March 9, 2025, during a church service in Eldoret, where he joined the president, Lusaka praised Ruto for his unwavering support of religious institutions.

He affirmed that he fully stood by the president in all his endeavours and insisted that giving to churches was, in fact, in line with biblical teachings.

“Your Excellency, I have come here today not because I have nothing to do or because there are no churches in my own county. I passed by many churches, but the Lord directed me here. I am here to align myself with both the network of God and that of the world. You see, it is biblical, and that is what I am here to say. I will quote the Bible. so you can see. So Rais keep giving, as I myself will also make my donation to the church.,” Lusaka declared.

The governor went on to affirm his commitment to supporting the president’s initiatives, recounting how he had contributed to a recent fundraiser despite not being physically present at the event.

“When His Excellency mentioned that the governor had supported a fundraiser, I had indeed sent my contribution. I made sure to be part of it because I have seen the good work being done, and I am encouraged by what I am witnessing today.”

Biblical Justification

Lusaka strongly defended Ruto’s donations, citing scripture as justification for contributing to the church.

He referenced Deuteronomy 16, which instructs believers not to appear before the house of God empty-handed, stressing that giving should be proportionate to the blessings one has received.

“For those making noise about this, it is the Bible itself that commands us to give according to how God has blessed us. We will continue giving because the Lord has been generous to us,” he asserted.

He also expressed his admiration for the president’s efforts to unite the nation, applauding Ruto’s recent initiatives aimed at fostering national cohesion.

“We fully support what you have done to bring the country together. We must move forward as one people. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians that we should all agree with one another in what we say and be perfectly united. Even Baba (Raila Odinga) tells us that we must all unite, and for that, we stand by the scriptures.”

Kenya’s development

Lusaka further commended the president for fulfilling promises made to the people of Bungoma, revealing that several projects initiated by the government were now taking shape.

He highlighted the timely delivery of subsidised fertiliser, which had been a key pledge of Ruto’s administration.

“For those of us who have worked with you, Your Excellency, we have seen how Kenya is changing. Even in Bungoma, we are witnessing the fulfilment of commitments you made. Fertiliser has arrived, and the deliveries started as early as December,” he remarked.

The governor concluded by reaffirming his loyalty to the president and his administration, vowing to continue backing government initiatives that prioritise national unity and economic progress.
