Members of the disputed Keekonyokie Community Trust Land, Kibiko, Ngong have embarked on a cease fire dialogue ahead of the subdivision of the 2,800acres  communal land.

The move follows protracted leadership wrangles pitting two factions until the court on 29th May directed elections be held to determine the trustees’ leaders.

The elections were characterized with a fair share of drama after the two warring factions led by Moses Monik and Moses Parantai held three elections in a span of one week.

Speaking at Loyiangalani, Kajiado West during a thanks giving ceremony attended by thousands of locals who are among the 16,000 registered members, Monik led team said they are now the legitimate trustee leaders after following the duly spell process and being cleared by the ministry of Lands.

“We are happy that finally we are the bonafide trustee leaders and we have all the required documents after following the due process and registration. Today’s ceremony was not meant for those who supported me to be the chairperson during the elections, it was a Keekonyokie members’ event. Elections are over and I would love to thank all members for respecting the democratic space and maintaining peace throughout the tough court battles and election tensions, “said Monik.

Land subdivision

Monik said the trustee leadership will now embark on subdivision of the land among its members amid assurance that justice will prevail.

“The registered members will be the sole beneficiaries of the land and therefore voting patterns will not disadvantage anybody. We are now engaging all our members to facilitate the process of subdividing the property to individual title deeds,” added Monik.
