Mumias Sugar gets interim General Manager

By , November 28, 2019

Mumias Sugar receiver manager PVR Rao has appointed Francis Wabuke as acting General Manager for the troubled miller.

The miller is set to start milling in January even after PVR Rao terminated all employment contracts of the over 600 workers earlier this month as the takeover took effect.

In a bid to save the company which has been crippled by heavy debts and lack of raw material, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya met President Uhuru Kenyatta to explore various possibilities of reviving the giant miller that has been shut down for more than a year.

The county government, the Kenya Commercial Bank, the receiver manager, lenders and other stakeholders support a hybrid receivership plan.
