Saitabao Ole Kanchory, a political analyst and lawyer who also served as the chief agent for the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in 2022, has come out to state that there are a lot of inconsistencies surrounding the death of the late leader.

While appearing on a local radio station for an interview on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Kanchory said that the explanations given to the country on the death of the late leader are not satisfactory.

He went on to state that it is not just him alone, but many Kenyans are questioning what really happened that led to the death of Raila Odinga, but he affirmed that in the fullness of time, all the circumstances that led to the death of the former prime minister will be revealed.

He continued to state that he has personally called for an inquest into the death of Raila Odinga, since there are many questions still lingering in the minds of Kenyans that need to be answered. According to him, the inquest is meant to clear the air and does not necessarily imply any claim regarding the cause of death.

“We have not accepted the explanation given by the state on the cause of Raila’s death. There are many Kenyans who are still questioning what really happened, but I believe in the fullness of time the whole story will come out. I personally have called for a public inquest into the cause of Raila’s death. They are questions that are still lingering in the minds of Kenyans, not necessarily that there is an accusation of any kind but to clear the air,” he said.

Caleb Amisi’s inconsistencies

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has also, in the past, raised similar concerns, saying that there are many questions surrounding the death of Odinga that need to be answered. However, he gave time for the mourning period to end before such questions could be raised and addressed.

He stated that there is no way the late leader could have died in the kind of facility, which he described as dilapidated, where he passed away.

He went on to state that the state could have at least handled the late leader more seriously and that there are gaps in the process.

“There are a lot of question marks. Very soon, we will begin asking questions. When the mourning period ends, we will start asking. Baba was unlike any other Kenyan,” he said.
