Kaluma hails Ruto’s tough talk on corruption
Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma has lauded President William Ruto for taking a firm public stance against corruption during the ongoing Devolution Conference in Homa Bay County.
Taking to his official X account on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Kaluma described the atmosphere in the hall as “silent” when the President boldly addressed the issue, warning that no one — regardless of their political or institutional connections — would be shielded from prosecution if found guilty of engaging in graft.
He further called out governors, urging them to stop corrupt practices and instead channel devolved resources towards serving the people.
“The silence in the hall when President @WilliamsRuto bravely addressed the issue of corruption! “No call will come from below or up to save you from prosecution if you’re found to have engaged in corruption! Governors should stop corrupt practices and direct devolved resources to serve the people!” Kaluma stated.
Kaluma further accused the National Assembly and the Judiciary of corruption, questioning the practice of granting anticipatory bail to individuals accused of graft.
“The @parliamentkenya is engaged in corruption, just as @Kenyajudiciary! Why grant anticipatory bail for the corrupt! Corruption is the germ undermining the progress of our people and Nation. Let’s fight it,” Kaluma wrote on X.

Ruto’s stance on corruption
President Ruto, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, sounded a warning shot to the various government agencies, cautioning them against engaging in corrupt activities.
Speaking during the ongoing devolution conference in Homa Bay County, Ruto stated that the time had come for the country to face and redress the menace of corruption in the country.
He noted that the vice has become a stumbling block to gains made in the war against graft.
EACC and courts
He challenged the agencies charged with ensuring accountability of the law to effectively play their role and ensure they are not the ones perpetuating the vice.
He specifically challenged the EACC, stating that they will be the sacred cows in the fight against corruption.
“EACC must take up their role seriously. I have made it clear that there will be no sacred cow or telephone call from above to stop anybody from being prosecuted in matters of corruption. All agencies must come together to deal with the problem of corruption and ensure resources are used as intended by the people of Kenya,” he stated.
