Kalonzo wants Raila’s endorsement in 2022 polls
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka wants the ODM leader Raila Odinga to endorse him for Presidency in the 2022 General Elections.
Speaking at Akamba Handcraft in Changamwe on Friday, July 30, the Former Vice President said the ODM leader does not owe him any political debt but added that he should reciprocate his kind gesture of supporting him in the last two consecutive General Elections.
Kalonzo said the end of the Nasa coalition puts to rest the raging debate of political debts that has been a subject of discussion among the opposition parties.
“I have helped Raila for 10 years, just Imagine 10 political years. And I don’t say that he pays me a debt; there are no political debts. I don’t like it when people call it debts that is why you see Nasa is now History and that is why ODM has even left,” he said.
The Wiper party leader appealed to Raila to join his camp so that they can fulfil their dreams and aspirations for the country as envisioned in Nasa and CORD coalitions.
Kalonzo urged the ODM leader to support him for the presidency saying he has what it takes to lead Kenyans towards prosperity.
“But let him do that which is wise because I know he loves this country, Kenya. He should unite with his younger brother Kalonzo and salvage the Nasa vision and that of the CORD coalition,” he added.
Kalonzo’s call comes hot on the heels of push and pulls on who the opposition parties should support for the presidency.
Both Kalonzo and ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi have declared interest in the top seat even as they insist the ODM leader should support their bids.
The two, together with Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula resolved to withdraw from the Nasa coalition so that they can solidify their presence in the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) that include Gideon Moi’s KANU.
Raila on the other hand is engaging the ruling Jubilee on a possibility of striking a working relationship even as the door remains open for him to join OKA, on condition that he will be an equal partner as the rest.
