Kalonzo, Gachagua storm Kasarani for Sunday church service a week after Kariobangi chaos
By Luke Oluoch, December 7, 2025Opposition politicians have joined a church service in Kasarani constituency, a week after their trip to Kariobangi North was violently disrupted by clashing groups.
Led by Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua, the opposition entourage stormed Ronald Karauri’s constituency to join the faithful of the Christ Dominion Church on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
The itinerary has been confirmed by Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party.
“The DCP leader, Rigathi Gachagua, heads to Christ Dominion Church in Kasarani for Sunday service this morning. Kalonzo Musyoka is expected to attend,” a statement from the party said.

The visit to Kasarani comes a week after Gachagua’s tour for a thanksgiving service for Kariobangi North MCA, David Warui, last Sunday was marred by running battles and chaotic scenes.
Kariobangi chaos
During the event, a section of a rival group of youths engaged in running battles across the streets as Gachagua and his entourage addressed a church function in the P.C.E.A. Kariobangi North, Berea Parish Church.
The chaos later descended into the church after tear gas was lobbed inside the house of worship, leaving women and children perplexed and choking from smoke.

Speaking afterwards, Gachagua blamed the continuous attempts to disrupt his gathering on President Ruto’s doorstep.
He sustained the onslaught on the government for employing violent means to disrupt his functions, warning that the act would only alienate the people.
“Every time you plan to disrupt our meetings and beat up people, you are losing further, and this community hatred towards you grows. If you think you can make these people embrace you through intimidation and violence, you are misguided,” he stated.
The incident, especially the hurling of teargas inside church premises, elicited wide condemnation from leaders across the political divide, with many registering their repugnance with what they termed as desecration of the holy places.
