Kalonzo Musyoka has fired back at President William Ruto for sending a delegation of clergy from Ukambani to persuade him to join his administration.

Speaking in Machakos County on Saturday, September 20, 2025, Kalonzo advised the church leaders not to waste their valuable time trying to engage him.

“Ruto has stated that he has sent church leaders to prevail over Ukambani leaders after the people reportedly rejected his developmental projects. I want to ask them not to waste their time,” he said.

Cancelled projects

Kalonzo further accused Ruto of cancelling a project for the construction of the High Grand Fall Dam meant to benefit Tharaka Nithi County and Kitui.

The Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) Leader further fired a warning to the clergy, cautioning them against being taken over by the head of state and government.

Musyoka emphasised that everyone has a right to development regardless of political affiliation.

“I want to tell the church leaders to safeguard the respect of society and that of their faithful followers,” he stated.

Right to development

“Our constitution aptly states that the right to development is a constitutional right. It says there shall be equal development without discrimination, therefore you cannot claim that a region has refused projects aimed to bring development to them. This deceit and it must end,” he stated.

Kalonzo also decried attempts by the government to, stressing that it remains an issue of concern when the clergy becomes muzzled.

“I am putting our bishops on notice. They know themselves those who went to the State House. The bishops have been taken over, and we will call them out. For Ruto, let him join the world leaders in New York, knowing he cannot confuse the country any more,” he stated.

He ended his address with a rallying call to dethrone the current administration.

“Let us prepare to deliver this country. We have to do it. We have youths who are learned and cannot wait to take you home in a democratic manner,” he added.
