PHOTOS: Kahariri visits Kenya Air Force at Laikipia Air Base as part of familiarization tour
Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri visited the Kenya Air Force (KAF) at Laikipia Air Base as part of his familiarization tour of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Services on Friday, June 14, 2024.
In a statement shared by the Kenya Defence Forces on X, General Kahariri was welcomed by KAF Commander, Major General Fatuma Ahmed.
The day’s events included laying a wreath at the Base Monument in honour of fallen soldiers, inspecting a Half Guard of Honour, and receiving a detailed briefing on the mandate, operational status, and effectiveness of the Kenya Air Force.
He also toured select facilities at the Base, attended a luncheon in his honour, and addressed all KAF personnel.
During her address, Major General Ahmed emphasized KAF’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Kenyan airspace.
“As KAF, we will continue to maintain a high level of vigilance and professionalism in safeguarding our airspace against external aggression,” she stated.
In his address, General Kahariri praised the dedication of the KAF personnel and emphasized the importance of adhering to KDF’s core values in its operations.
He also called on the Air Force to continue supporting the Kenya Army and Kenya Navy, expressing his vision of one unified force working towards mission success.
“The military is special because we are apolitical, professional, known for integrity, operating under civil prerogative, and loyal through the chain of command,” General Kahariri noted.
The CDF also toured several key departments and facilities, including the Liquid Oxygen Plant and the Aviation Center of Excellence (ACE), to evaluate and understand how these facilities contribute to achieving operational effectiveness.
