Kabeberi 7s: Resurgent Kabras and Daystar Falcons earn semis berth

Carlos Katywa’s Kabras side edged Catholic Monks 20-5 to advance to the Main Cup semis in a tough battle played this Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the RFUEA grounds.
On their part, Falcons narrowly edged Menengai Oilers 29-24 in another nail-biting quarterfinal clash.
The Falcons rode on Daniel Ogonda’s late two tries to turn the tie on its head with a 24-14 stunning victory over the Christie Seven finalists.
Willis Ojal’s Leos dispatched Mombasa Sports Club Rugby 35-0 in a lopsided encounter to seal their fifth successive semifinal appearance.
The Scholars were joined in achieving the mean feat of five semifinal appearances by rivals KCB, who beat Mwamba RFC in the first quarterfinal meeting to also storm the semis.
The bakers entered the clash in fine form, having blitzed past Mombasa RFC and Nairobi Mean Machines to open their title defence on a dream start.
The team under Willy Ambaka concluded their cruise with a win over Wanyore of Nakuru RFC to emerge as the top side in group A.
Meanwhile, 2024 Kenya Cup winners, Kabras, who endured a tough outing of mixed results in the recent circuit, will be hoping for a maiden title in the series as they face off against KCB in the semis with a final berth at stake.
The westerners will be hoping to bank on their defensive solidity in the group stages to upend a formidable Bankers side, who look to mount a strong defence of their Kabeberi title.
The final semi-final clash will pit Day Star Falcons against an in-form Strathmore Leos, who, along with KCB, are in a tight two-point race for the ultimate honours of the National Sevens Circuit.
