Former Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae has once again taken a swipe at the state of national leadership, saying leaders have abandoned issues that matter most to ordinary Kenyans in favour of endless political theatrics.

In a strongly worded statement on her X account posted on September 24, 2025, Wamae opened with a proverb: “Vita vya panzi, furaha ya mvuvi”, loosely translated as when two locusts fight, the fisherman benefits.

She said the ruling elite is preoccupied with non-issues while Kenyans are struggling daily with an unforgiving economy.

“I told you that these wantam people have no agenda; that is why they are amplifying non-issues,” she said, warning that Kenyans are being shortchanged by a political class focused on survival rather than solutions.

Wamae listed what she called the real issues Kenyans face “courtesy of tutam”, highlighting ten areas of crisis that she argued should be the country’s true priorities. At the top of her list was unemployment and lack of decent incomes, which she said continues to lock out millions of youth from opportunities.

She added that Kenyans are facing “non-existent purchasing power”, as the cost of living keeps rising. Wamae noted that the high cost of food due to over-reliance on imports and the high cost of capital are worsening the squeeze on households.

The post also touched on growing unrest in the education sector, pointing to students’ strikes, lecturers’ strikes, and the government’s decision to lower school capitation. “Land disputes and lack of title deeds”, as well as “lack of accessible healthcare due to SHA implementation hiccups”, also made her list.

According to Wamae, corruption and the loss of public funds continue to derail development while Kenyans remain trapped in daily struggles.

Moreover, she had criticised governance gaps and called for wealth-creating reforms.

In closing, she dismissed the political wars among top leaders, saying Kenyans must focus on wealth creation and economic transformation. “Creating wealth for the nation of Kenya and her citizens is the ONLY agenda bigger than the ‘leading’ two dead horses shenanigans,” she wrote.

Her statement has sparked online debate, with many Kenyans echoing her concerns about the cost of living and broken systems, even as political leaders continue to trade barbs over succession politics.
