Here is what you need to know to keep up to speed with today’s happenings.
Budget presentation to parliament
Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi is expected to present the budget to the National Assembly at around 3:00 pm today.
The Ksh4.2 trillion budget will entail details of the government’s priority areas of spending, and will also indicate the revenue-raising measures envisaged to fund the ambitious budget.
Of the Ksh4.2 trillion budget, the Treasury hopes to raise Ksh2.7 trillion through various ways, including domestic and foreign borrowing, tax collection and service charges for government services.

This will be Mbadi’s inaugural budget since his appointment to the cabinet following an acrimonious withdrawal of the Finance Bill of 2024 after months of protests that culminated in the invasion of Parliament by the protesting youth.
Albert Ojwang’s murder
Reactions are expected after senior police bosses in the country revealed what they know concerning the brutal murder of the 31-year-old teacher Albert Ojwang’ on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, DCI director Mohammed Amin revealed that the Central Police Station commander, Samson Talaam, should be the main suspect in the murder of Ojwang’.

Amin indicated that the DCI officers, who picked up Ojwang’ from his rural home in Kabondo-Kasipul, treated him well until he was handed over to the Central Police Station, where he is said to have been killed.
While the police bosses were at pains to prove why Ojwang’ was booked into a cell alone, the Vice Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), Ann Wanjiku, disclosed that one of the witnesses in an adjacent cell heard loud screams from the cell where Ojwang was held.
The case, which has become of national interest, is set to continue with its investigative stage after it emerged that CCTV footage was erased on the night of the murder of Ojwang’.
