Juja crackdown: Police, NACADA confiscate narcotics, arrest one
By Aloys Michael, December 21, 2025Police in Juja Sub-County, Kiambu County, have led a multi-agency operation targeting illicit brews and narcotic drugs, resulting in the recovery of a large consignment of suspected cannabis in the Kimbo area.
The operation, conducted in collaboration with the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), forms part of intensified efforts to dismantle drug networks and curb the spread of illegal alcohol within the county.
According to a police statement on Sunday, December 21, 2025, the officers recovered 2,983 rolls and 94 sachets of plant material believed to be Cannabis sativa during the crackdown.
“One suspect was arrested during the operation and escorted to the police station,” police said in a statement, adding that “all the recovered items were secured as exhibits to support ongoing investigations,” read part of the police X post.
Also seized were a digital weighing scale, assorted packaging materials, cash suspected to be proceeds of crime, and several mobile phones believed to have been used in coordinating the illegal trade.

The person of interest remains in lawful custody and is expected to be processed and arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
Police described the operation as a significant step in disrupting the supply chain of illicit drugs within Juja Sub-County and surrounding areas, where authorities say the abuse of narcotics and illegal alcohol has continued to pose serious social challenges.
“The National Police Service reiterates its unwavering commitment to combating the production, trafficking, and distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol,” the statement said.
Police warned that the drug abuse and trafficking menace continues to threaten public health, security, and the socio-economic well-being of communities.
Authorities say similar crackdowns will continue as part of broader national efforts to protect communities from the harmful effects of drugs and illicit alcohol.

Festive season safety
Meanwhile, all police officers on leave have been ordered to resume duty as the government intensifies a sweeping, multi-agency security operation aimed at safeguarding Kenyans and visitors during the busy festive season.
In an X post, the Ministry of Interior and National Administration (MINA) announced a six-pronged security plan designed to address heightened travel, increased social activity and a surge in domestic and international tourism that typically characterise the end-of-year period.
“While the overall security situation across the country remains calm and stable, past trends indicate a likelihood of isolated security incidents, traffic violations and opportunistic crime during the festive season,” the X post read in part.
“In response, we have taken the SIX measures to protect the lives and
property of members of the public and international visitors as they go about their activities.”
