There was jubilation in Jubilee’s faction of Tanga Tanga, following their candidates’ wins in the Tuesday mini polls.

Following heated campaigns and intensive lobbying, the mini polls’ outcome supposedly reflected Tanga Tanga’s growing strength against the Jubilee’s other faction, Kieleweke, and the Orange Democratic Party (ODM)

In the Msambweni Constituency by-election, Feisal Bader who was backed by Deputy President William Ruto’s Tanga Tanga team, beat his main rival Omar Boga.

Bader, who ran as an independent candidate but fully backed by Tanga Tanga, scooped a whooping 15,251 votes against ODM candidate Omar Boga who got 10,444 votes.

In the Gaturi ward race in Kiharu, Murang’a County, People’s Empowerment Party candidate Ester Mwihaki beat her closest rival, Jubilee’s Rosemary Wakuthie. Mwihaki garnered 3, 947 votes, while Wakuthie had 3,423 votes.

Mwihaki was also backed by a section of Tanga Tanga politicians. Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria excitedly announced Mwihaki’s win on Facebook. Kuria is Mwihaki’s party leader.

In Naivasha’s Lake View ward, New Democrats Candidate Simon Wanyoike beat Jubilee man Mathu Njoroge.

At Kahawa Wendani, Tanga Tanga’s candidate Bernard Kariuki lost to Jubilee’s Kevin Ochieng with a narrow margin of 182 votes.

Shorty after the poll results were announced, DP Ruto’s camp went ablaze with excitement.

Led by the DP himself, the camp expressed satisfaction with the poll outcome.

Tanga Tanga firebrand and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro congratulated Msambweni’s MP-elect Bader signalling victory to the ‘Hustler Nation’.

Kieleweke’s MP Ngunjiri Wambugu said his Jubilee team lost to a better team.
