Jimmy Wanjigi warns Ruto against targeting his family amid political feud
Safina Party leader Jimmy Wanjigi has warned President William Ruto against extending their political feuds to his family.
Speaking during the party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) at Ngong Racecourse on Thursday, September 18, 2025, Wanjigi urged the president to keep off his family and deal with him directly in case of any political conflict.
He recalled an incident that happened months ago when police officers camped at his Muthaiga home with intentions to arrest him. Wanjigi narrated how he hid inside his house for days before eventually coming out. He laughed as he recounted that it was his wife who advised him to hide in what he described as a “bunker”, while she remained behind to face the police.
Wanjigi further claimed that during the days he was in hiding, police harassed his family, pressuring them to reveal his whereabouts. However, he praised his wife and Gen Z daughter for standing firm and refusing to be intimidated.
“Ukiwa na vita na mimi, kwa nini unapiga bibi yangu? Kwa nini unapiga watoto wangu? Wewe ni mtu wa aina gani? Ukiwa na vita na mwanaume, watu wa nyumbani unaachana nao. Lakini Kasongo hana adabu; askari wake wanapiga watoto wangu,” Wanjigi said.
“Wakati Kasongo alikuja kwangu nyumbani, alituma jeshi. Hawa wakasema niingie kwa bunker. Sisi ni fearless; umeona bibi yangu, fearless. Umeona hawa Gen Zs, fearless. Walisema niingie kwa bunker; sisi tutaonana na hawa jamaa. Siku mbili walionana nao.”
This was after assuming Safina Party’s leadership after being handed over the party’s assets that Paul Muite had kept for over 30 years since the inception of Safina.
Revamping security sector
The event went on at Ngong Racecourse, with the party promising to revamp the security sector once they assume power.

The party’s deputy party leader, Willis Otieno, stated that during the party’s tenure, should they clinch the top seat, all OCPDs will be elected by citizens living in a particular division as a step into solving police excesses that are currently witnessed, where police perform unlawful arrests, among other unlawful activities, while defending themselves by saying that they have received orders from above.
According to Willis, during their reign, orders from above will be Kenyan citizens, with the elected OCPDs being held accountable for any excess perpetuated within their jurisdictions.
