Former minister and politician Jamleck Kamau has expressed heartfelt gratitude to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and other leaders for their support during the funeral of his late mother, Mama Jane Wanjiku Kamau.

In a statement shared on his social media pages on Monday, February 9, 2026, according to the veteran politician, despite the fourth president not being physically present during the funeral he supported him and the family during the difficult moment

Kamau further acknowledged the outpouring of love, prayers, and solidarity from friends, political leaders, and Kenyans across the country, describing the support as “truly humbling” during this difficult period for his family.

“I am forever grateful to every one of you who stood with us as we laid to rest our beloved matriarch,” Kamau said.

“The outpouring of love, prayers, solidarity, and support throughout this difficult journey, culminating in her final send-off on Friday, was truly humbling. She was accorded a befitting farewell worthy of the great woman she was.”

Kamau extended his gratitude to the leaders who attended the funeral, noting their presence as a gesture of unity and compassion. Among those he specifically thanked were former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, PLP leader Martha Karua, former Speaker Justin B. Muturi, and CS Lee Kinyanjui.

He also acknowledged senators, MPs, MCAs, and political aspirants from across party lines who joined the family to offer comfort and support.

Thanking Ruto

For those who were unable to attend but still offered support, Kamau singled out President William Ruto, Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, and many other leaders for their visits and messages of condolence.

“My family and I will always be indebted to our friends, leaders, and all Kenyans who walked with us, offering comfort, encouragement, and strength. Your presence and support meant more than words can express,” Kamau added.

The funeral

The funeral, where the matriarch was laid to rest on friday, February 6, 2026, brought leaders from different sides of the political divide, led by the trade cs lee Kinyanjui and Nominated MP Sabina Chege, who, despite being heavily critical of Gachagua, were relaxed and carefully delivered their condolences

Jamleck Kamau, who recently took a leave from politics, was an ardent supporter of the Democracy for Citizens DCP party but has now decided to be at the periphery of politics.
