Sacked senior director of communications (Digital, Innovation, Diaspora) at the Presidential Strategic Communications Unit Dennis Itumbi now says he is a pig farmer.

Itumbi, who was sacked alongside four others on Wednesday, posted on his Facebook page that he is now a farmer, drawing sharp reactions from Kenyans on online.

The most outstanding was Prof Makau Mutua’s tweet : “I don’t ordinarily celebrate the misfortunes of others.  But the “beheading” today of @OleItumbi from the Presidential Strategic Communications Unit calls on all democracy lovers to raise a glass of champagne.”

The Public Service Commission (PSC) on Wednesday announced that it had scrapped the position of Itumbi as well as the position of senior director (events and branding) held by James Kinyua Mureithi and David Nzioka Musau, position of senior director (speech writing),  held by Erick Kipkoech Ng’enoh,  and the position of principal information officer held by John Ndolo.

In a letter copied to the PS in the Ministry of Public Service, PSC chief executive Simon Rotich said the positions had been abolished as part of efforts to reorganise the government.

The move came as it emerged that Interior CS Fred Matiang’i had asked  PSC to declare the positions declared redundant.
