Inside 6 resolutions of joint ODM-Kenya Kwanza meeting
President William Ruto’s ruling coalition, Kenya Kwanza, has outlined six facets jointly agreed upon following the joint PG meeting convened in Nairobi on Monday, August 18, 2025.
In a joint statement outlining the resolutions following the meeting with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), the two partners in the broad-based arrangement agreed to put aside partisan divisions and work together to advance the national interest above partisan political expediency.
“The Joint Parliamentary Group of the Kenya Kwanza Coalition and the Orange Democratic Movement, having convened in the spirit of national unity and in recognition of the critical role of Parliament in shaping the future of our country, hereby adopts the following resolutions:
1. Unity of Purpose and Cohesion of the Country
Reaffirming our shared commitment to the unity of national purpose, peace and stability of the Republic of Kenya, we resolve to put aside partisan divisions and work together to advance the national interest above partisan political expediency,” part of the statement read.
The statement has further revealed that the collaboration will extend beyond Parliament and will happen at the grassroots levels in the County Assemblies.
2 Implementation of the 10-point agenda
Secondly, they also affirmed their commitments to the implementation of the 10-point Agenda, terming it the cornerstone of the joint legislative and development programme.
“We shall prioritize legislation, oversight and resource allocation that facilitates delivery of key pillars, including economic growth, social justice, job creation, healthcare, education, infrastructure development, agriculture, good governance, and empowerment of youth and women.
We resolve to show commitment and work together in our joint resolve to fight corruption to protect the integrity of our institutions and their leadership. This fight will be waged in all arms of the government,” the party statement read.
3. Parliamentary collaboration in national interest
Other items on the consensus form for the meeting include adopting a collaborative approach in the legislative realm in the Kenyan parliament.
The partners pledged to collaborate on matters of concern to the nation, guided by the principles of transparency, accountability, and service to the people.
4. Commitment to national dialogue and inclusivity
The meeting also saw UDA and ODM members reinforce their commitment to national dialogue and inclusivity as another item.
In this regard, the two political outfits agreed to put Kenya first and give all necessary support needed to keep the country united on a progressive path through consultations between the two principals as envisaged by the coming together of the two principals, Raila Odinga and President Ruto.
5. Commitment to the legislative and policy issues regarding the 10 (MoU)
The Joint Parliamentary Group, working through the National Assembly and the Senate, will prioritize policy, legislative, and administrative proposals that will be made by the Committee Overseeing Implementation of the NADCO Report and the 10-Point Agenda. Issues contained in the 10-point agenda transcend UDA and ODM and are matters that are central to the existence and progress of Kenya.
6. Retreat for the joint parliamentary group
A retreat for the joint Parliamentary Group shall be organized later in the year as part of the conscious steps to build harmony and streamline working operations to achieve all the objectives as underscored in the Memorandum of Understanding.
