Indigenous knowledge crucial for progress – PS

Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage Principal Secretary Ummi Bashir has said the national government and counties have launched a programme to document indigenous knowledge for development and posterity.

The PS said the National Museums of Kenya had rolled out the programme in 13 counties. In a speech read on her behalf by the Ministry’s official Boniface Simba during the launching of the programme in Kisii County, the PS said the value of the knowledge and assets will be enhanced to enable the counties gain through partnerships.

Kisii Governor Simba Arati said the elders will work closely with enumerators to document the knowledge and assets, saying it will also promote cottage industries and create jobs for the youth.
