The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and the commencement of Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) in five electoral areas that were affected by the by-elections.

In a public notice issued on Thursday, June 25, 2026, the commission said the ECVR exercise will run from June 25 to July 25, 2026, targeting eligible voters in five electoral areas.

The registration exercise will be conducted in Mbeere North Constituency, Porro Ward in Samburu West Constituency, Endo Ward in Marakwet East Constituency, Emurua Dikirr Constituency, and Malava Constituency.

Registration days

According to the electoral agency, registration services will be available daily, including weekends, throughout the one-month registration period to facilitate voter participation.

“The exercise will be conducted at County Assembly Ward level as well as Constituency Offices, Huduma Centres, Institutions of Higher Learning located within the specified electoral areas and at the Commission’s Customer Experience Centre at Anniversary Towers,” the notice stated.

“Upon conclusion of the ECVR exercise, Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and regular revision of the Register of Voters will continue at the respective Constituency Offices from Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.”

The commission urged eligible Kenyans residing in the affected constituencies and wards to take advantage of the exercise and register as voters to participate in the forthcoming electoral process.

The registration drive comes as the IEBC intensifies preparations for the July by-elections and implements reforms outlined in its recently launched Strategic Plan and Election Operations Plan aimed at strengthening electoral management and voter participation.

Why these aeas were excluded from registration

In its notice during the roll out of mass voter registration on March 2026, IEBC stated that the ECVR exercise will not be conducted in areas with scheduled by-elections or ongoing election petitions.

The commission explained that the exclusion is necessary to avoid interference with active electoral processes in those regions.

“NB: ECVR shall NOT be undertaken in electoral areas with scheduled by-elections (Porro Ward, Endo Ward, and Emurua Dikirr Constituency) and ongoing election petitions (Malava Constituency and Mbeere North Constituency),” the notice reads
