The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has opened applications for 12,520 temporary jobs to support a 30-day Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) drive at ward level.

The exercise aims to boost voter numbers across Kenya ahead of future elections. The commission announced the vacancies on February 25, 2026, via its official X account.

“We’re hiring! The Commission invites qualified applicants to apply for temporary positions to support the thirty (30) day Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise at the ward level,” the post read.

It listed three roles in voter registration assistants, voter registration clerks, and ICT clerks.

“Youths are strongly encouraged to apply,” stated.

Voter registration clerks make up the largest group, followed by voter registration assistants and then the ICT clerks. Successful applicants will work during the intensive ward-based registration period.

Ward-level biometric registration drive

The ECVR builds on the ongoing continuous voter registration handled at constituency offices. It targets more Kenyans to register or update details using biometric kits like KIEMS tablets. Voter registration clerks operate the equipment and verify applicants.

Assistants supervise clerks, secure kits, and ensure targets get met in their wards. ICT Clerks set up and manage the tech side of registration.

Interested Kenyans must apply online through the official portal. The site lists the positions under the ECVR category, with details on duties.

For example, one description states that a voter registration assistant supervises clerks and handles biometric equipment security. The application deadline is Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Applicants should check the portal for full requirements, such as qualifications and ward-specific needs.

The IEBC warns that any form of canvassing leads to automatic disqualification.This recruitment comes as the commission pushes to expand the voter register. Chairman Erastus Edung Ethekon and the team stress the importance of participation.
