Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has reaffirmed her unshakable loyalty to the government stating that she has never been out of government and has no plans to leave.

Speaking on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Waiguru strongly affirmed that she will never join opposition and that aligning herself with the ruling regime benefits her county.

She explained that being in the opposition was unwise as it blocks regions from receiving developmental programs that would benefit the communities.

“Sijai kua nje ya serikali, sijawahi, ata kabla nisimame sikukua nje ya serikali na 2027 sio siku ile ntakua nje ya serikali, mimi ntakua ndani ya serikali, siendi opposition kwa sababu hatuezi saidiana,” she said.

Loosely translates to;

“I have never been out of government, I have never. Even before I vied for governor, I was not out of government and 2027 will not be the time when I will be out of government, I will be in government because in opposition we cannot help each other,” she stated.

Waiguru then stated that Kenyans were about to witness a different political shift in 2027, as the current political sphere has immensely transformed.

“Kenya imebadilika, siasa za Kenya zimebadilika, na kama huamini ngojea 2027, siasa ya leo si siasa ya mdomo, matusi wala fitina. Wananchi wanaongea lugha moja tu kwa upande wa vviongozi wamechaguliwa, wanaongea mambo ya kazi,” she added.

Loosely translates to;

“Nowadays, politics is not about talking, incitement and abuse. Kenyans are only speaking one language of development.”

She additionally urged leaders not to be swayed into joining the opposition and stay in government for the benefit of their people.

“Mimi kama gavana wa Kirinyaga ambaye nimepewa nafasi hii na wananchi wa Kirinyaga, singependa kuona watu wa Kirinyaga wakidanganywa, na ndio nimeambia wenzangu ambao wanataka kusimama, msikimbie sana kwa sababu hapo mnaambiwa muende, sio wewe utakua na tikiti ya kusimama, hata hio chama atafungua kutakua na mwenye anataka hio tikiti mtakutana huko kushindana nani atapewa, unaeza kua umejikimbiza huko mbele ata tikiti yenyewe ukose, kwa hivo tuende polepole, pia ujiulize huyo mwenyewe atakuwepo ama hatakua kwa karatasi, na sio mimi nimesema,” she added.
