Huduma Kenya Chief Executive Officer Ben Chilumo has warned members of the public against engaging with brokers and individuals masquerading as Huduma staff at the entrances of Huduma Centres across the country.

In a message during an interview with a local radio station on Thursday, May 7, 2026, Chilumo said that Huduma Kenya is aimed at protecting the public from fraud and corruption. Chilumo said some unauthorised individuals have been misleading citizens seeking government services by pretending to assist them in exchange for money.

He urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and only seek assistance from officers dressed in official Huduma uniforms or stationed inside the designated service areas.

“Brokers and individuals are pretending to be Huduma staff at the entrance. Please do not engage with anyone who is not in an official Huduma uniform. We do not condone corruption,” Chilumo said.

The CEO has emphasised that the Huduma Kenya staff at the centres are always branded with uniforms, thereby distinguishing them from cons, urging Kenyans to only seek services from uniformed officers to avoid being conned. Citizens have been advised to seek guidance directly from verified Huduma officers and avoid shortcuts that may expose them to fraud or exploitation.

The warning comes amid increasing concerns over cases where desperate applicants are conned while seeking essential services such as ID applications, passport processing, NHIF registration, and other government services offered through Huduma Centres.

Huduma Kenya emphasised that all government services provided at the centres follow official procedures and that citizens should not pay extra fees to unauthorised middlemen promising faster processing.

The agency further reaffirmed its commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring transparency and efficiency in public service delivery. Kenyans visiting Huduma Centres have also been encouraged to report suspicious individuals and corruption-related incidents to the relevant authorities.

The statement by the CEO is meant to intensify efforts by the government to crack down on cartels and brokers operating around public offices while restoring confidence in the Huduma service system.
