Kenya trended on Twitter for the better part of yesterday as social media users questioned the killing of Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif.

The trending topics centred on the reasons given by the police for the shooting of the popular investigative journalist.

In a statement, police spokesman Bruno Shioso claimed Sharif had been fatally wounded by a police officer after the car he was in drove through a roadblock in Magadi, Kajiado.

His death made global headlines with most of the media outlets questioning the explanation.
