Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has warned former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua against profiling the government he once served.

He termed Gachagua’s recent remarks remarks against the government on the emergence of illicit brew in Mt Kenya as unfortunate, irresponsible, incitement, and reckless statement.
The former Defence CS further urged Gachagua to be a democrat and stop lowering the bar for good leadership.
Duale on Gachagua’s conduct
According to Duale, the former second in command should raise above ethnic chieftain.
“Hon Gachagua , you were once the Deputy President , this statement is unfortunate, irresponsible, incitement, and reckless . History will judge you . Don’t low the bar for good leadership , raise above ethnic chieftain. Be a democrat,” Duale stated.

Gachagua’s war with govt
Gachagua has been hitting out at the President William Ruto-led adminstration after he was removed from office as the DP by way of impeachment, with Kithure Kindiki replacing him as the second in command.
Gachagua has since turned against the government’s policies which he used to popularize during his reign as the DP. He has picked issues with the affordable housing programme and the rollout of Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF)- Taifa Care, which he now claims to have advised President Ruto against.
His most recent rant against the government was on Sunday, October 22, 2024, when that the government has been targeting the Mt. Kenya region with illicit brew.
Speaking during a church service in Naivasha on Sunday, December 22, 2024, Gachagua argued that the government wants the Mt Kenya youths to consume the illicit brew and die to suppress the number of votes.
Gachagua singled out the Principal Secretary for State Department for Internal Security and National Administration Raymond Omollo whom he accused of being directed by the president to reopen all alcohol factories manufacturing substandard alcohol and urged them to sell the alcohol exclusively in Mount Kenya.
“The Interior Security PS was instructed by the President to reopen all those alcohol factories, and they were urged to sell the alcohol exclusively in Mount Kenya. It is not sold in Rift Valley or anywhere else. Yesterday, three people died in Bahati,” Gachagua claimed.
“Since they forced me out of office, the President has ordered all the illicit alcohol that kills people to be brought here to destroy our young people.”
