Herman Manyora: Gideon Moi’s exit from United Opposition carries no political weight
Seasoned political analyst Herman Manyora has stated that Gideon Moi’s departure from the United Opposition has little to no impact on the coalition.
Speaking during an interview on his YouTube channel on Friday, October 10, 2025, Manyora argued that Gideon Moi holds no significant political value and that his decision to leave the opposition for the government will not affect the movement in any meaningful way.
According to Manyora, when undertaking a serious political mission such as seeking the presidency, it is expected that a few people will drop off along the way.
He noted that while some of these individuals may be valuable, others contribute very little. Referring to the 2022 general election, Manyora said Moi added no tangible value to the Azimio coalition.

He observed that even as the coalition struggled with operational issues such as paying election agents, Moi, despite his financial status, did not step in to assist.
Did he add value to Azimio?
Manyora further explained that during the 2022 elections, Azimio faced several logistical and financial challenges that could have been easily solved with minimal contributions from wealthy figures within the coalition.
“You know, when you are on a mission as serious as running for the presidency, a few people will drop off along the way, and some of them may be good leaders, while others may not have been adding any value. I watched in 2022; for example, what value did Gideon add to Azimio? Zero,” Manyora remarked.
He questioned Moi’s role in addressing these issues, pointing out that the former Baringo senator, who comes from a well-known and financially stable family, failed to play a meaningful part.

“They were still discussing issues such as how to pay agents, which would be pocket money for Gideon. Did he contribute? He basically added no value. He had no impact on the team. So even in 2027, what value was he going to add? Some of these people are just good talkers,” Manyora stated.
He added that Gideon’s lack of participation or visible support during the 2022 campaign period showed that he was of little help to the coalition, and therefore, his absence now does not carry much weight.
Ditching Baringo seat
Manyora emphasised that although every political alliance would prefer to have many prominent figures on board, it is not necessary to mourn the loss of individuals who did not make any substantial contribution in the first place.
Manyora further stated that even as the opposition prepares for the 2027 elections, Moi’s exit will not affect their progress.
He maintained that since Gideon had little to offer politically or financially in the past, his departure from the opposition is unlikely to cause any disruption or concern among its members.

This comes a day after the former senator hosted President William Ruto at his home in Kabarak, which saw over 3000 KANU delegates witness him entering into the board-based agreement with President Ruto after agreeing to shelve his Baringo senatorial ambitions.
