“Governor Ann Kananu has reshuffled four Chief Officers in Nairobi County Government to enhance service delivery. Changes have been made in Finance, Health, Disaster, and Trade departments,” a statement to newsrooms read in part.

The new changes come a day after Nairobi workers threatened to down tools, accusing the City Hall of failing to address their grievances.

Among the issues cited by the workers are persistent salary delays, failure to complete promotion of all eligible staff, unwillingness to finalise a pay rise negotiation, perennial electricity disconnections, and failure to pay NHIF premiums and remit monthly deductions.

“Your reply letter is a testament that your office is not in any way committed to fulfilling the urgent needs of our members and that there has been no single action transcending mere words,” Nairobi Staff Branch Secretary Festus Ngari said in a letter to Governor Kananu.
