Gathoni Wamuchomba sceptical about dualisation of Kiambu Road despite Cabinet approval
By Joel Masibo, November 11, 2025Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba has welcomed the Cabinet’s approval of the dualisation of Muthaiga-Kiambu Road but with a sense of scepticism.
Shortly after the approval on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the legislator, however, hoped that it would not turn out to be a mere promise, as such pledges have been made before without implementation.
Kiambu Road expansion
”Cabinet communication about the 23.5 km Kiambu road dualling approval is a good gesture. Will only believe it when it’s completed. Same cabinet approved Cherry advance funds for coffee farmers, and they were never sent in full to date. Tumezoea promises; tutaamini ikimalizwa. In the meantime, Singapore’s dream is still valid,” Wamuchomba took to X.
The dualling of the 23.5-kilometre Muthaiga–Kiambu–Ndumberi road is meant to ease congestion and improve mobility between Nairobi and Kiambu counties. The project will convert the current two-lane road into a dual carriageway with bypasses, loops, and access roads designed to reduce travel times and enhance traffic flow.
In a separate resolution, the Cabinet approved a Comprehensive Framework for Infrastructure Projects Pricing, aimed at curbing inflated project costs and improving value for money in public investments. The framework seeks to eliminate irregularities and inconsistencies that have historically inflated the cost of government projects.

The reform will be led by the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service through a Multi-Agency Technical Working Team, which has already made progress in developing sectoral pricing models, cost derivation criteria, and a proposal for a National Infrastructure Pricing Database (NIPD).
By adopting the First Principles Approach (FPA), a methodology successfully used in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Singapore, the framework aims to replace precedent-based costing with data-driven analysis. This shift is expected to cut cost overruns by up to 25 per cent and ensure accountability, transparency, and efficiency in the management of public funds.
Heading the next level
The development comes at a moment when President William Ruto has pledged to take Kenya to a first-world country level, rebuking those talking negatively about the nation.
Speaking during a church service on Sunday, November 9, 2025, the Head of State said positivity towards the government of the day is key for national progress.
“I see many people who speak negatively about our country; I see many people who confess many negative things about our country,” Ruto said.
President Ruto further urged Kenyans to focus on the nation’s strengths and work together to achieve development.
