Gachagua visits Kipipiri MP’s home after death of his father
By Kiprono Keileb, January 4, 2026Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has joined the family of Kipipiri Member of Parliament Wanjiku Muhia in mourning the death of her father, Mzee Njoroge Muhia, describing the loss as a painful moment for both the family and those who knew him.
In a heartfelt statement shared on X on Saturday, January 3, 2025, Gachagua said he personally visited the family at their Nairobi residence to offer condolences and stand with them during the difficult time.

Gachagua’s visit comes as leaders across the country continue to send messages of comfort to the Muhia family, acknowledging the role Mzee Njoroge played as a father and elder.
“This evening, at their Nairobi residence, I condoled with the family of Hon. Wanjiku Muhia, MP Kipipiri, following the loss of their dear dad, Mzee Njoroge Muhia,” Gachagua wrote.
In his message, Gachagua urged the family to remain strong as they process the loss, recognising that the journey of grief can be heavy, especially for a family that is in the public eye.
“Take heart, Muhia family, at this difficult moment as you come to terms with this loss,” he added.

Gachagua said he was praying for strength for the family, acknowledging that no words are ever enough when a loved one passes on.
“I pray that Almighty God gives you strength during this difficult moment,” the statement reads.
He concluded his message with a prayer for the late Njoroge Muhia, expressing hope for eternal peace and life beyond death.
“May the soul of Mzee Muhia rest in eternal peace, and may God grant him everlasting life,” he wrote.
Years of illness
In his earlier post, Gachaga had highlighted the strength it took to live through years of illness, noting that such endurance often goes unseen but leaves a lasting mark on those around it.
“The late Njoroge Muhia demonstrated courage and great resilience in life, having had a twelve-year battle with kidney failure. The people of Kipipiri have lost a champion and a family man who brought forth a great leader, Wanjiku Muhia, and her siblings have demonstrated,” Gachagua wrote,” he wrote.
